‘Daisy: Prophet of the Apocalypse’ is a mockumentary/experimental film that follows
a radical Trans preacher and her cult following. After an encounter with a queer goddess
atop a mountain, Daisy embarks on a journey to prophesy the end of the world, and
save as many people as she can. She promises salvation for those who denounce heterosexuality,
resulting in their ultimate rebirth as monsters in the New Queer World.
Venus Patel is a transfemme artist of colour based in Dublin, working in film and
performance. Patel uses her work to talk about her experience as an other, trying
to navigate the world. She questions the heteronormative society we live in, why the
need to conform is so heavily enforced, and how that affects the perceptions of the
world around us. Although her work deals with serious subject matter such as hate
crimes, religious guilt, and Queer/POC bodily suppression, she utilises a unique mix
of humour, absurdity, and abjection to create multi-faceted films.
