A bunch of people standing in the desert. The person closest to the camera has long straight brown hair, white skin, is wearing a chain vest, has a bandana on their forehead, and is looking up at the sun. The background people are scattered, with some looking up at the sun and others looking off in other directions.
An open book lies face down on the floor with the sunlight casting a shadow on it. The book is leather-bound, with words written in gold on the front. The words read "Las fergas de Esplandian ''. A rope sits on the floor and slightly under the book. The floor is made wooden slats.
Description

Based on archival map research, the naming and mapping of California and the flawed rhetoric of Hernando Cortez; the film follows Cortes' last attempt at conquest in the so-called New World using a feminist queer anti-colonial lens.
