Kriss Li is a multimedia artist who creates fictional narratives, animations, documentaries, installations, and conceptual projects that explore structures of power. These projects investigate the foundational divisions and hierarchies that maintain our social order—the ways these systems condition us in spite of our intentions, and the hidden sites of possibility that we can exploit towards greater collective capacities. Kriss’s artistic practice is informed by extensive engagement with community organizing, especially as a decade-long collective member of Prisoner Correspondence Project, a volunteer-run solidarity initiative for LGBTQ prisoners. Their work has been shown in over 100 international festivals and exhibitions, including International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, MIX New York Queer Experimental Film Festival, Laceno d’Oro International Film Festival, and National Contemporary Art Museum Bucharest. Kriss was born in Chengdu, China, and currently lives on the unceded territories of the x m k yy m (Musqueam), S wxx wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sell íll witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
