Mira De Koven is a mixed-media animator and director. They’re inspired by the mundane miracles of everyday life. They like to remove these phenomena from their original context to deconstruct them, in turn displaying their absurdity when observed on their own. The stories De Koven tells feature nonbinary and mixed race characters with a visual a mix of different painted and collaged backdrops. Alternatively characters appear in a combination of digital and paper animation. Their influences are a contrasting blend of slice-of-life storytelling, visually compelling horror and brightly coloured psychedelic animation.
