Lyric R Cabral has over a decade of experience documenting the intersections of race
and surveillance in the post 9-11 world. Cabral’s debut film (T)ERROR, the first film
to portray an active FBI counterterrorism sting operation, won the 2015 Sundance Film
Festival Special Jury Prize for Breakout First Feature, the 2015 Full Frame Documentary
Film Festival Grand Jury Prize, and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award
for Best Documentary. Cabral’s work has appeared on PBS, BBC, VICELAND, Pivot, and
National Geographic Channel UK, amongst others. He is currently directing THE RASHOMON
EFFECT, exploring the shooting death of unarmed Black teenager Michael Brown by White
police officer Darren Wilson.
