Biography

Alan Kalev Herrick of Palo Alto died May 21 at midnight in an automobile accident near Truckee. He was 24. A native of Palo Alto, he attended Crescent Park Elementary School, Jordan Middle School and in 1988 graduated from Palo Alto High School, where he received an All American award for swimming and was co-captain of the water polo team. He graduated in 1992 from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va., where he was captain of his water polo team, leading the group during his senior year to league championship. Last Saturday he received a masters degree in fine arts, specializing in film, from the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. His senior film project "Extreme Maggotry," is to be shown in a San Francisco film festival.
