Biography

Cumbrian dwelling in the North East. Writer of folktales and fables. Lucy Rose is an author and award-winning writer/director/filmmaker with an interest in gothic, girlhood, horror, and literary fiction. Her debut novel, THE LAMB, is due to be published by Weidenfeld and Nicolson in the UK and Harper in the US. Her short fiction and nonfiction have been published widely in print/online anthologies and literary journals (including Dread Central, Mslexia and MEAT). Alongside her short stories and personal essays, she also had a recurring column on screenwriting in Mslexia over the course of ’22 – ’23 magazine and was awarded Arts Council DYCP funding for literary development in early ’23. In film, Lucy’s short films have led to three regional Royal Television Society Awards (and other notable accolades). Her recent horror short, SHE LIVES ALONE, was financed by the BFI Network and later won the NE Royal Television Society for Best Drama Under £100K. The film visited BAFTA and Oscar-qualifying festivals and was acquired by WatchALTER. Her previous short films have attended BAFTA-qualifying festivals – one receiving a nomination for the inaugural BFI Northern Filmmaker Award at Aesthetica Film Festival in 2018. Lucy was selected for the competitive EIFF Talent Lab Connects ‘21 and EIFF Talent Lab ‘22, where she developed her feature film project, A MAN AT THE WINDOW. This year, she was shortlisted for BAFTA Flare. TASTE, Lucy’s forthcoming short film, is due to begin its festival journey soon. Alongside her short films, she continues to develop a slate of feature films and television projects in the horror space. Lucy lives on the North East coast with her beautiful black cat, Figgy.

Lucy Rose (INFP/T) is a prose writer and an award-winning writer/director. She is a charity shop addict and can be found drinking copious amounts of tea. She has a BA (hons) in Film and Television Production and is currently studying her MA in Creative Writing part time. Her most recent film, ‘She Lives Alone’, was financed by the BFI Network and is currently visiting festivals, a number of which are BAFTA & Oscar-qualifying.
