Biography

I joined the BBC in 1969 as a sound FX operator on the Archers, rising to become a Senior Sound Designer in 1979. I left the BBC in 1990 to start Raw Charm, an independent production company, based in Cardiff and produced over 40 programmes and series over the next 14 years. I took part retirement in 2004 and moved to Pembrokeshire in 2006 from where I continue to write. Throughout a long career initially in the BBC and latterly as an independent producer, I developed extensive experience in all aspects of film and television production. Not only do I have a comprehension of the production process, it's perhaps idea / script development where my skills bore fruit. Over the years as an independent producer, I was able to produce films of consistently high production values in spite of falling budgets and I had a reputation of delivering on time and on budget. My client base included BBC, ITV, Channel Four, Discovery Channel and Five as well as regional broadcasters. Although my career started in radio back in the late 1960s, I returned to radio production shortly before retiring to Pembrokeshire. Unlike television and with significantly lower budgets, I produced a number of single programmes and series for the BBC. I have written numerous Treatments, Billings and Press Releases over the years; but since moving to Pembrokeshire, I have been commissioned to write a number of pieces for Saga and other magazines. In July 2012 my first book, "Miss Daisy's Diaries" was published and has sold over 2,000 copies. I am now writing the sequel "A Tale of Two Ends", which I hope will be published in 2014

Pamela Hunt founded Raw Charm in 1990 and was its chief executive until 2004 when she sold the Company which became Raw Charm Media to current MD Kate Jones-Davies. She joined the BBC in 1969 as a 'sound effects' operator and rose to become a senior Sound Supervisor in 1980. Between 1980 and 1990, Pam undertook the production of a number of projects in both Radio and Television. Over the years, she produced most of Raw Charm's single documentaries and series, which then focused on contemporary stories. In 1997, she helped the company to diversify into the production of history series. She retired from the Company in 2004 but remains a valued Consultant. In retirement Pam is planning to drive around the World in an Austin Seven named Miss Daisy!

Pam was born and raised in rural Somerset, and after watching the Coronation of the new Queen in 1953 decided upon a career in broadcasting, despite teasing from her family. She joined the BBC in Birmingham in 1969 as a Special Effects engineer on The Archers and she went on to become a Senior Sound Supervisor with BBC Wales in 1980. She was Sound Director on many of BBC Wales' major productions before leaving the BBC in 1990 to establish an independent production company, Raw Charm. Until her retirement, she produced documentary and factual programmes for BBC Wales, HTV, Meridian, BBC Network, Channel Four, Five and Radio Wales. She also wrote for Saga Magazine and other monthly publications, and continues to do so. She retired to Pembrokeshire in 2006 and because she is easily bored, began contributing to the local community, arranging concerts in the local church and assisting with the running of the annual village festival. Pam is very interested in the early days of motoring and loves driving her 1934 Austin 7, which she christened Miss Daisy, to the four corners of Europe. Continuing her passon for writing, her first book, Miss Daisy's Diaries was published in July 2012. She is currently working on a sequel.
