Eva Everett Irving is a transgender Canadian/American writer, director and actress. She completed her B.A. at Sarah Lawrence College with a concentration in theatre and creative writing. She also spent a year abroad at the University of Barcelona, studying Hispanic Literature. In 2014, her three-act play, “The Drift,” was granted an award of excellence by Sarah Lawrence. She completed a year-long intensive at The New York Film Academy where made a number of short films, including her thesis film, “Johnny on the Moon,” which was accepted in over 15 film festivals and won Best Film at the Trans Stellar International Film Festival. She worked in Brooklyn as a production designer and set dresser on various films directed by Peter Vack, Nuer Taqa and Joe Collins, among others. In 2017 she wrote, directed and acted in, “El Secreto del Amor Eterno,” a short, black and white film shot in Barcelona, Spain. In 2019, her feature screenplay, “Urraca,” won First Prize at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. That same year, she adapted John Irving’s novel “In One Person” to the stage, and co-starred in the production directed by William Scoular, at the FOCUS Festival in Aurora, ON. In the fall of 2020, she was cast in the CBC Original Series, “Sort Of” directed by Fab Filippo, starring Bilal Baig. She is currently an MFA graduate student in film and screenwriting at York University, where she received a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada for the development of her feature screenplay.
