Biography

Katherine Linton has produced, directed and written over 100 hours of broadcast television in a variety of genres; Historical to verite documentaries, newsmagazine to docu-series. In addition, for over 13 years she has produced and directed short form branded content for corporate and major non-profit entities. Linton began her career as Host and Senior Producer of the National PBS series “In the Life,” the only broadcast program focusing on LGBT issues as early as 1993. Linton launched her own production company Linton Media in 2004 with their first project, “The Evolution Will Be Televised” a 90-minute documentary special and the very first program to air on Viacom’s gay channel LOGO. Katherine Linton went on to E.P, Show-run and produce numerous cutting edge programs and series for MSNBC, Discovery, A&E, LMN, Here TV and the MTV’s series True Life, on topics including Homelessness, Traumatic Brain Injury, (both nominated for the SAMHSA Voice Award) and Prescription Pill Addiction, winner of the 2014 Prism Award. For the past several years Linton has worked on a freelance basis, directing host driven docu-drama and documentary series. Prior to forming Linton Media, Katherine was an award-winning producer whose documentaries and series aired on PBS, Sundance Channel, A&E, Logo, VH1, Bravo, TLC, Here TV and Discovery Health.

Katherine Linton is both a freelance EP, Director, Showrunner and is the President and Executive Producer of Linton Media. She most recently was the Director and Showrunner of a 6 part digital series and one hour documentary for PBS called 'Prideland.' That series won a 2021 EMMY AWARD, Two Gold Telly's and was nominated by GLAAD for 'Outstanding Journalism.' Prior to this she was the Creator, Director, Showrunner and Co-Writer for an MSNBC Special 'Rebellion! Stonewall.' She is currently a Supervising Producer of a 3-part True Crime limited for Netflix. Katherine launched Linton in 2004 with her first project, “The Evolution Will Be Televised” a 90-minute documentary and the first program to air on Viacom’s gay channel LOGO. Linton Executive Produced and Directed cutting edge programs for MTV’s series True Life, on topics such as Homelessness, Traumatic Brain Injury, both nominated for the SAMHSA Voice Award and 'I'm Addicted to Pills', which won the 2014 Prism Award for best documentary. She Was the Co-EP and Senior Field Producer for Rivr Media, on the first two seasons of the docu-series ‘Escaping Polygamy,’ on A&E- and recently was Showrunner/ EP of 'Raising Tourette's' with Half Yard Prod. for A&E. She directed, “Mississippi: I Am,” Executive Produced by Lance Bass, and awarded the Grande Jury Prize at the Atlanta Film Festival, among other awards and as well as the feature, "Follow My Voice: With the Music of Hedwig;" a final runner-up for the Audience Award at Tribeca film Festival and aired on Sundance Channel. For 12 years, she has Executive produced all of the James Beard Foundations branded content for their annual awards gala as well as working with many not-for-profit organizations. Linton Media’s web series, Directed by Cynthia Nixon, “Fight Back New York” about the Marriage Equality Battle there, was nominated for the coveted Webby award in the category “Best Non-Profit and Activism Campaign.” Prior to forming her company, Katherine was an award-winning producer whose documentaries aired on PBS, HBO, Sundance Channel, A&E, Logo, VH1, Bravo, TLC and Discovery Health. Katherine began her career in television as the host and series producer of the national PBS program In the Life, a newsmagazine about the LGBT experience, which was on the air for 21 years.
