Joelle Ruby Ryan is a passionate voice for transgender empowerment and liberation
in the U.S. An activist and scholar, she works for public awareness and understanding
of gender-variant people and builds solidarity in the queer community. In this documentary,
Ryan addresses some of the issues facing transgender people including discrimination,
violence, and the impact of racism and classism. This film not only gives us a portrait
of an interesting person, but also provides us with an exposition of the many problems
that continue to face minority groups in our society.
