High school is hell—unless you’ve got a love potion and a flair for Shakespeare. In
this glitter-bomb musical romp, dreamy outsider Timothy casts a spell on his all-boys
school (literally) and turns the football team gay, the faculty fabulous, and the
halls into a technicolor queer fantasia. Were the World Mine is part teen revenge
fantasy, part Shakespeare remix, and all-out musical spectacle. Released in 2008,
it was a rare moment of queer cinema that said screw the trauma—let’s sing, sparkle,
and hex the heteronormative.
