Description

I don't know, a documentary on Linda and Jimmy, a lesbian and a pre-op transsexual trying to make a life and love in the suburbs of Los Angeles. The film finds the couple strolling the sidewalks of the Los Angeles Valley, taking a bath, visiting Linda's family, speaking frankly and with great humor about their relationship, the struggle to live in-between identities in a society that demands everyone conform to easy definitions of either/or. Spheeris has always been difficult to pin down. She worked as a film editor before founding her production company Rock'n'Reel, making music videos for corporate label bands. She sold the company and reestablished herself as an independent filmmaker and maven of the youth underground with her debut feature, the cult documentary on Los Angeles' seminal punk rock scene The Decline of the Western Civilization before becoming a creature of Hollywood for better like Waynes's World (1992) or The Little Rascals (1994). «Punk rock is true to my soul and my soul is true to punk rock. If there's such a thing as a senior citizen punk rocker, I'm sure that will be me.»
